13 Goals and High Scoring Wins Highlight USHL Friday Action

Offensive Showdowns Highlight Six-Game Slate

Friday night in the United States Hockey League brought a flurry of offense across the map, led by an 8–5 goalfest between the Omaha Lancers and the Tri-City Storm. The USHL reported that Omaha erased an early 2-0 deficit by exploding for two goals in a 16-second span late in the first period. Zachary Spagnuolo struck at 17:44 before Charlie Vig knotted the score at 18:00.

That sudden burst opened the floodgates for the Lancers. Omaha and Tri-City combined for 13 tallies on the night, including five in the second period alone where the Lancers rattled off four unanswered goals across a span of 5:04 to seize control of the contest.

In another high-scoring battle, the Madison Capitols outlasted the Youngstown Phantoms 7–5. Youngstown captain Malachi McKinnon shouldered a heavy load for his squad, recording four points with a goal and three helpers to bring his season total to 15 points in 13 contests.

Special teams proved decisive elsewhere on the schedule. The Waterloo Black Hawks leaned heavily on their man-advantage unit to secure a 5–1 victory over the Lincoln Stars. Waterloo entered the night with a league-leading 16 power-play goals and added three consecutive power-play strikes to push their season total to 19. The surge included the first goal of the season for rookie forward Miles Jinman, who entered the matchup ranked second among USHL rookies with nine assists.

Cedar Rapids maintained its position leading the Eastern Conference. Henry Lechner picked up an assist in the RoughRiders’ 4–1 win over the Green Bay Gamblers, lifting his season production to 24 points. The victory improved Cedar Rapids’ record to 11-4-0-0, following 20 points in 14 games.

Goaltending made the difference on penalty shots throughout the slate. Muskegon’s Samuel Doyon-Cataquiz shut down a penalty shot attempt by Dubuque’s Trevor Theuer, while Des Moines’ Elias Hopeman turned away Chicago’s Leland Dulac during a 4–2 Buccaneers win over the Steel. Muskegon ultimately secured a tight 3–2 road victory against the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Overtime drama unfolded in Sioux Falls, where the Sioux City Musketeers slipped past the Stampede 4–3. Dakotah Bailey delivered the winner, marking his first overtime winner of the season and fourth tally of the campaign. Sioux Falls rookie Ethan Sung found the back of the net twice on just two shots, finishing the night with a 100% shooting percentage in the losing effort.

Action continues as the league moves through its weekend schedule, with teams jockeying for early-season positioning across both conferences.
