An Online Plot Unfolds Inside a Buckeye Home

A Buckeye mother was at home with her two young children on the evening of October 16 when an unknown man walked through her front door and attacked her. She fought off the intruder in her own driveway, providing investigators with a partial license plate and a vehicle description that immediately launched a police search.

That violent encounter was not a random break-in, according to the Buckeye Police Department. FOX 10 Phoenix reported that detectives arrested the victim’s 23-year-old fiancé, Zarian Dyer, and charged him with setting up the assault through an online agreement with a man he met on the internet.

The Arrests and the Digital Evidence

The day after the October 16 attack near Southern Avenue and Miller Road, Buckeye Police identified the intruder as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala of Goodyear and arrested him at his home. When investigators questioned Ayala, he told them he went to the victim’s house after striking a deal online with her partner to sexually assault her.

Police seized electronic devices from both Ayala and Dyer. Carissa Planalp of the Buckeye Police Department stated that a review of data from those devices revealed active communication between the two men regarding the planned assault. Prosecutors during Dyer’s initial court appearance noted that evidence on Ayala’s phone showed the fiancé wanted a FaceTime connection during the attack.

Ayala’s attorney maintained that his client was invited to the home by the victim’s partner for a roleplay scenario. Prosecutors rejected that defense, arguing the digital evidence proved a coordinated conspiracy to target the mother of Dyer’s children.

Dyer Faces Multiple Charges as Police Investigate Motive

Authorities took Dyer into custody on Thursday, October 29, while he was at work near Roosevelt Street and Verrado Way. He faces a slew of charges, including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy.

Police have not yet determined a motive for the plot. Investigators confirmed that the victim had no knowledge of the scheme beforehand and commended her quick thinking while under attack.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for them. For this woman and her young children,” Planalp said, praising the victim for providing a vehicle description and partial license plate that allowed authorities to quickly track down the suspect.
