A fatal head-on collision on the Parks Highway last week claimed the lives of a Fairbanks couple, leaving behind their two-year-old daughter who survived the crash, KTUU reported.
The Fatal Crash on the Parks Highway
The tragedy occurred near Trapper Creek. According to Alaska State Troopers, 38-year-old Sasha Hart and her husband, 41-year-old David Hart, were killed in the head-on collision. Their two-year-old daughter, Paige, was riding in the Subaru with them at the time of the crash.
The Harts had recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary, building a shared life in Fairbanks that blended Sasha’s Jamaican lifestyle with David’s Alaska lifestyle.
“She just became one of us. Like we were really close with David before they met. But then when she came, she just sort of lumped right in,” Shery Elterman-Hart, the sister of David Hart, told Alaska’s News Source during an interview.
A Family Remembered and a Daughter’s Recovery
Loved ones recalled the couple’s shared passions for traveling, watching hockey, and food. Above all, their family emphasized that Paige was the center of their world.
“She was their entire world. I don’t know if it’s Paige’s house or their house,” Katie Ragsdale, David Hart’s sister, said.
Amid the grief, family members pointed to enduring traits that connect the toddler to her late parents. Paige shares her mother’s distinct facial expressions and her father’s sweet tooth.

“You still have a piece of them, a living piece of them still on Earth,” Ragsdale said.
Medical updates from the family indicate that Paige is healing fast from the collision, having sustained six broken bones in the crash.
