A Life of Community Service and Dedicated Craftsmanship in North Carolina
Charles McPherson Timms, a devoted family man, longtime volunteer firefighter, and local business owner who spent decades serving his neighbors in North Carolina, passed away at his home on Oct. 27, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Rockingham, North Carolina, on April 14, 1954, to the late Charles Preston Timms and Sadie McPherson Timms, Charles built a life defined by hard work, civic engagement, and a deep affection for animals.
For more than two decades, Charles volunteered as a firefighter, dedicating his time to protecting his community. That strong work ethic shaped his professional pursuits as well. He owned and operated Timms Memorial Company and lent his skills to Tru-check Metering Solutions. Later in his career, his lifelong love for animals led him to Lakeview Veterinary Hospital, where he served faithfully as general manager until his retirement.
Charles Shared 28 Wonderful Years with Partner Felicitas Noeller
Outside of his professional life, Charles spent 28 joyful years alongside his partner, Felicitas “Feli” Noeller, while holding a deep devotion to his daughters, Carla and Heather. Those who knew him well often remembered his signature style, anchored by a firm belief that suspenders were an essential wardrobe staple meant to be worn at all times. That same practical, steadfast spirit extended into his home, where he found joy in the constant companionship of his dogs and cats.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Patti McKenzie Timms. He leaves behind a family that includes his partner, Felicitas “Feli” Noeller; his daughters, Carla Thomas and her husband, Hunter, and Heather Covington and her husband, Jason, all of Rockingham; his sister, Martha Richardson of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Annabel Covington, Ethan Covington, Jenna Rippy, and Jordan Rippy; a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved pets.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham, with the Rev. Grover Timms Jr. and the Rev. Jamie Balentine officiating. A private burial will follow. A reception will begin at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moore County Kennel Club at P.O. Box 22, Southern Pines, NC 28388.
