Armed Confrontation Erupts Inside North Charleston Retailer
A North Charleston woman faces a felony charge carrying up to 10 years in prison if found guilty after police say she followed a store manager through a local retail location with a firearm and threatened to shoot her, according to WYFF.
North Charleston Police Department officers arrived at the Dollar General on Northbrook Boulevard at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, responding to emergency calls regarding a belligerent suspect armed with a gun, abcnews4.com reported.
Heated Aisle Dispute Over Alleged Insult
The confrontation began while the store manager was assisting other customers. Twenty-two-year-old Nakyah Denae Odom approached the employee and initiated an argument, convinced the manager had made a negative comment about her.
The manager denied the accusation and attempted to walk away. Investigators state that Odom pursued her through the aisles, eventually reaching into a bookbag and delivering a direct threat: “I’ll shoot you.”
Weapon Recovered During on-Site Police Response
Officers located Odom still inside the Northbrook Boulevard establishment when they arrived. When questioned by law enforcement about whether she was carrying any firearms, Odom acknowledged she had her husband’s gun.

A search of her bookbag yielded a 9mm handgun, which abcnews4.com noted was identified specifically as a .9mm.
Al Cannon Detention Center Booking
Police took Odom into custody without further incident and transported her to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
She has been formally charged with first-degree assault and battery, a felony offense that mandates a potential sentence of up to 10 years behind bars upon conviction.
