Justin Tucker is returning to the NFL, joining the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, kansascity.com reported. The move brings high-stakes competition to an organization searching for stability in its kicking game, but it also carries immediate off-field controversy.
A Familiar Leg Faces New Scrutiny
Tucker, a 36-year-old kicker and five-time first-team All-Pro, has remained out of the league since the Baltimore Ravens released him following kicking struggles during the 2024 season. His return to an active roster follows a 10-game NFL suspension handed down in June 2025. The league disciplined Tucker after 16 massage therapists accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior, including allegations that he exposed himself during sessions at wellness centers and spas around the Baltimore area between 2012 and 2016, his first five seasons with the Ravens. Tucker denied the allegations.
When the league announced the suspension, the reaction from those affected was sharp. “I don’t think it’s enough,” one therapist told the Baltimore Banner, which first broke the news of the accusations. “He got 10 weeks, and we have to deal with this the rest of our lives.”
Pressure on Butker and the Chiefs’ Roster
On the field, the Chiefs are bringing in Tucker to light a fire under Harrison Butker, kansascity.com reported. Butker has struggled significantly through the current season, missing six kicks overall, with four of those misses coming over the span of just two weeks. Alongside Tucker, the team also worked out kickers Ben Sauls and Harrison Mevis.
Tucker ranks as the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history, sitting behind only Cameron Dicker. Yet his final season in Baltimore marked a steep decline, as he missed eight field goals and two extra points before the Ravens ultimately termed his release a football decision.
