Omaha Claims 73-65 Season-Opening Victory Over Mid-America Christian
When the Omaha Mavericks stepped onto the court for their season opener on Monday night, expectations met reality in a hard-fought contest against Mid-America Christian. Omaha secured a 73-65 win, but the path to that eight-point margin required a sharp offensive push and steady shooting from beyond the arc.
Crosby Sets the Pace in Omaha Debut
Cahmai Crosby led the charge for the Mavericks, putting up 21 points to anchor the team’s opening-night victory. Crosby proved efficient from all areas of the floor, shooting 7 for 12 overall, connecting on 4 of his 7 attempts from 3-point range, and converting all 3 of his free-throw attempts.
Backing up Crosby’s performance were Deke Thompson and Jonny Jordan Jr., who each contributed 13 points to the scoreboard. Thompson worked through a 3-for-9 shooting night, adding two 3-pointers and going 5 for 8 from the foul line. Jordan matched him with 13 points of his own, shooting 5 for 9 from the field with a pair of triples.
Evangels Push Back Behind Skilleman and Seat
On the opposing side, Mid-America Christian kept the pressure on throughout the matchup. Corey Skilleman led the Evangels with 12 points, while J.J. Seat chipped in 11 points. Taiden Conner rounded out the double-digit scorers for Mid-America Christian with 11 points and two steals, keeping the game competitive into the closing minutes.
