FDIC Hosts Kansas City Region Disaster Recovery and CRA Webinar

On November 18, 2026, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will host a webinar aimed at bridging the gap between disaster-stricken communities and the financial institutions capable of funding their recovery. With 46 active FEMA disaster declarations within the FDIC’s Kansas City region, the event is designed to provide actionable strategies for stakeholders operating across Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Fostering Collaborative Recovery

The two-hour session, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET, focuses on strengthening partnerships between financial institutions, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and community-based organizations (CBOs). The primary goal is to support the stabilization and revitalization of qualifying disaster areas, with a specific emphasis on low- and moderate-income neighborhoods and distressed or underserved nonmetropolitan middle-income geographies.

During the webinar, FDIC examiners will provide guidance on how disaster recovery initiatives can be structured to align with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). Presenters will also outline specific programs and resources available to assist small businesses and individuals impacted by recent disasters.

Federal and State Agencies Coordinate Disaster Recovery Efforts

The event features a broad panel of experts from federal and state agencies, including representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. State-level emergency management officials from Kansas and Minnesota will also participate to discuss regional recovery efforts, alongside representatives from the American Red Cross and the FDIC.

The FDIC encourages participation from financial institutions, government organizations, and community groups interested in disaster preparedness and response. Interested parties can secure their attendance by completing the online registration process.
