Independence Routs Frankfort 49-14 Behind Brock Green

Independence Delivers Statement With 49-14 Rout Over No. 1 Frankfort

There are statement wins, and then there was Friday night in West Virginia high school football.

The matchup was never in doubt. Independence raced out to a 28-7 halftime advantage behind a relentless offensive attack and a suffocating defense that played lights out from the opening whistle. Junior quarterback Brock Green orchestrated the dismantling with precision, throwing for 330 yards and three touchdowns while adding two more scores on the ground.

Green and the Patriots Offense Run Wild

Green, a two-time Class AA first-team all-state selection, entered the game as his team’s second-leading scorer and cemented that status early. He connected on 119 of 194 passes for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season, surpassing the 2,000-yard passing mark for consecutive seasons.

K.J. 'Jiards and Carson Treadway were the primary beneficiaries of Green’s arm in the first half, helping stake the Patriots to a 28-0 lead. 'Jiards hauled in seven receptions for 140 yards and three touchdowns, while Treadway contributed three catches for 116 yards.

The offensive pressure did not let up after intermission. In the second half, Green tossed another touchdown pass to Conner Jaynes, who has established himself as a reliable red-zone target in passing situations. Paxton Myers and Jacob GriƳƱƱƳtt tacked on rushing touchdowns to put the game out of reach, with Myers, a sophomore running back, finishing the night with 116 yards and a score on the ground.

Patriots Prepare to Finish Regular Season at Greenbrier East

The two programs share a rich recent history, having squared off in four of the last five Class AA state championship games, with Frankfort claiming three of those titles. Independence was originally scheduled to play Frankfort in the first round of the 2020 playoffs, but that postseason was upended by COVID-19 map outbreaks and subsequent cancellations.

With the regular-season statement officially delivered, the Patriots will wrap up their 2026 regular-season schedule next week on the road at Greenbrier East.
