A multi-year agonizing search for Lovett Moore came to a devastating close when the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office officially identified human remains found in Natomas as the missing man, CBS News reported.
Moore had been missing since June 28, 2025, when he vanished at age 33. Officers discovered the remains on October 26 in a field near East Commerce Way and Tanzanita Avenue after responding to the scene just before 8:45 a.m.

The Last Known Steps on Arena Boulevard
Before his disappearance, Moore lived with his mother in an apartment directly across the street from the Aisle 1 fuel station located in the 3200 block of Arena Boulevard, according to reporting from Hoodline. As a legally blind and disabled individual who had formerly been employed at the filling station, Moore routinely spent time there. Security camera images placed him at the station around 12:30 a.m. on the night he vanished, wearing a long-sleeve green shirt and black shorts. Advocate Lena Schenk later reported that surveillance footage showed three people walking Moore from the store toward a nearby vehicle.
The spot where his body was eventually recovered on October 26 lies roughly one and a half miles from that gas station. In the weeks and months following his disappearance, his case galvanized the Natomas community. More than 50 volunteers turned out for search efforts, while family members and advocates organized rallies and vigils to pressure law enforcement for answers, including a gathering near the one-year mark of his disappearance.

Ongoing Investigation Into the Cause of Death
While the coroner’s confirmation brings closure to the prolonged uncertainty faced by Moore’s family, investigators have yet to answer fundamental questions about the incident. Detectives began investigating the Natomas field discovery on October 28, but authorities have not yet determined whether Moore’s death is considered suspicious. The coroner’s office noted that the official cause and manner of death remain pending, and officials have not released further details regarding how or where he died.
No arrests or suspects have been identified in connection with the disappearance or the discovery of the remains. Local authorities continue to urge anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Sacramento Police Department as detectives pursue remaining leads.
