Nashville SC Rallies to Tie MLS Points Record in Dramatic 3-2 Comeback Over Red Bull New York

Nashville SC secured a historic 3-2 victory over Red Bull New York on Nov. 1, 2026, at GEODIS Park, staging a comeback that matched the Major League Soccer single-season points record. The dramatic win brought Nashville to 74 points, tying the record set by Inter Miami in 2024, while also clinching an undefeated regular-season home run with a league-record 15 wins.

The stakes of the fixture were high from the opening whistle. Red Bull New York arrived needing a victory to keep their Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs hopes alive, and they immediately put the pressure on the hosts. Within the first 40 minutes, Nashville found themselves trailing 2-0 and thoroughly outplayed on their home turf. Yet, the momentum shifted dramatically after the interval. Two own goals by New York in the 45th and 78th minutes wiped out the deficit before forward Sam Surridge headed home the winner in the 91st minute.

A Fortress at GEODIS Park

The late heroics sealed a flawless regular-season home campaign for the Coyotes. Through 17 matches at GEODIS Park, Nashville posted 15 wins and two draws, outscoring opponents 48-14 and surpassing the New York Red Bulls’ previous home-win benchmark of 14 set in 2018. They are now the only side in MLS to record two unbeaten seasons at home, following their 2021 record of 8W-0L-9D.

“All year we talk about just being able to respond,” head coach B.J. Callaghan told reporters. “Anything gets thrown at us — we think we score, VAR or whatever — it doesn’t matter. We move on to the next play, and we continue to hunt for goals, and it was what we needed in this game.”

Following the final whistle, the club celebrated its Supporters’ Shield-winning campaign with fans in attendance, adding fresh silverware to a trophy cabinet that welcomed its first major piece when the team lifted the US Open Cup last year. Nashville has maintained its grip on first place in the MLS table since May, weathering a grueling run to the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals along the way.

The Road Ahead to Decision Day and Beyond

With the Supporters’ Shield secured and home-field advantage locked in throughout the playoffs and MLS Cup presented by Audi, should they reach the Dec. 18 final, the club’s focus turns immediately to the regular-season finale. Nashville needs just a tie during their Saturday visit to FC Cincinnati to set a new league points record.

John Ingram, who guided the club into MLS in 2020, reminded the squad and supporters during the post-match celebrations that the journey is far from complete. “This is a journey, not a destination. This is a hell of a stop to win the Supporters’ Shield, but fellas, I think you have some more work to do this season.”
