Northbound I-25 Closing Overnight in Lone Tree Due to Complications

Commuters driving through south metro Denver will face significant overnight delays on Wednesday and Thursday as transportation officials move to complete an infrastructure project in Lone Tree. The Colorado Department of Transportation announced that northbound Interstate 25 will close overnight following construction complications earlier in the week.

Traffic Restrictions and Closure Timelines

Drivers will begin encountering restrictions on Wednesday afternoon. Colorado Department of Transportation officials stated in a news release that crews will close the off-ramp from northbound I-25 to Lincoln Avenue at 3 p.m.

Additional evening restrictions follow a strict schedule:

  • 6 p.m. Wednesday: One lane of northbound I-25 closes between Ridgegate Parkway and Lincoln Avenue, alongside the ramp from westbound Ridgegate to northbound I-25.
  • 8 p.m. Wednesday: An additional lane closes, and the eastbound Ridgegate ramp shuts down.
  • 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday: All northbound I-25 lanes close completely between Ridgegate Parkway and Lincoln Avenue.

The Thursday night schedule mirrors these disruptions. Crews will begin closing lanes at 8 p.m., culminating in a full closure of all northbound lanes from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

During the full closures, drivers will be detoured off northbound I-25 onto Ridgegate Parkway, routed east to South Peoria Street, north to Lincoln Avenue, and west on Lincoln to re-enter the interstate.

Addressing Construction Complications

The closures stem from difficulties encountered earlier in the week. Department officials explained that crews needed to close the highway again after complications arose during the installation of the southbound section of a pedestrian bridge on Monday and Tuesday.

The corresponding northbound bridge section is scheduled for installation on Wednesday and Thursday nights, though state officials noted that the timeline remains weather-dependent.

Motorists can monitor real-time updates and revised scheduling through the official Colorado Department of Transportation travel portal.
