Driver Arrested After Alleged Pursuit Ends in Crash at Portland North Precinct Garage
A 56-year-old Portland woman faces criminal charges after driving a vehicle through the garage door of the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct on Thursday, October 29, 2026, according to a press release issued by portland.gov. Catherine M. Fleury was taken into custody following the 8:48 p.m. incident at 449 Northeast Emerson Street.
The sequence of events began when an adult female driver called police to report that an unfamiliar vehicle was following her. The caller drove directly to the North Precinct parking lot to seek help. A bureau sergeant spotted the trailing vehicle—a silver 2005 Jeep Liberty—veering onto a sidewalk. When the sergeant activated his overhead police lights to initiate a traffic stop, the driver turned into a driveway and struck the precinct’s garage door, according to the official account.
Charges Filed Following Hospital Evaluation
The suspect vehicle broke through the garage door and came to a stop only after crashing into a parked tactical vehicle inside. Paramedics evaluated Fleury at the scene and found her unhurt. An officer from the Portland Police Traffic Division responded to investigate.

Authorities transported Fleury to the Multnomah County Detention Center, but staff declined booking due to a preexisting medical condition. Officers then criminally cited her for Criminal Mischief in the First Degree under ORS 164.365 and Reckless Driving under ORS 811.140 before transferring her to a hospital.
Investigators are examining impairment as a possible factor in the crash. Police stated that additional criminal charges remain under consideration as the investigation continues, and the suspect vehicle has been towed from the scene.
