Roc Nation Sports to support Nevada Pierre in trip to Spain

Three-year-old soccer sensation Nevada Pierre is traveling to Spain this December to develop his skills overseas after Roc Nation Sports stepped in to support the toddler. The move follows a viral incident at a Florida youth soccer game that brought national attention to the young player.

According to Loren LoRosa of The Breakfast Club, Roc Nation Sports is arranging the trip to use its overseas sports division, which represents numerous soccer players, including Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior. This opportunity aligns with previous discussions by Nevada’s parents, Don Pierre and Martasia Griffin, regarding a potential relocation to Spain to further their son’s development.

Dispute at Florida Youth Game

The national attention began following a dispute on October 24 at a youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida. Nevada, who competed against children as old as five, reportedly faced complaints from other parents who felt he was too talented and did not pass the ball sufficiently. The situation escalated to the point that league officials contacted the police.

Martasia Griffin told responding officers that others were “mad at my son because he actually plays soccer” and were “literally kicking him out of this place because he’s good at soccer.”

Conflicting Accounts of the Incident

While the family describes the conflict as a reaction to Nevada’s skill, i9 Sports provided a different account to ESPN. The organization stated that police were called due to a disagreement between adults rather than Nevada’s performance on the field. i9 Sports further claimed that no one was trespassed, arrested, or forced to leave the park, though the adults involved were later asked not to return to the program and the family received a refund of their participation fee.

Public and Professional Support

The incident sparked widespread support for the toddler, including a TikTok account that gained roughly 750,000 followers and a GoFundMe that has raised over $42,000. Roc Nation Sports expressed its support for the child on Instagram, writing, “Keep shining Nevada, we support you!”

Former U.S. men's national team player Eddie Johnson offered to train Nevada at his EJE7 Soccer Academy in Orlando. Johnson, who previously advised the family when Nevada was two that he was too young for the academy, stated on Instagram that the situation highlights issues in U.S. youth soccer, including “profiling especially against people of color,” as well as “Jealousy, Envy, Nepotism, Gatekeeping and entitlement.”
