University of Iowa Student and Family React to Near Collision During High-Speed Chase

Jack Spence and Family Encounter Wrong-Way Vehicle on Highway 30 During Police Chase

According to KCCI, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student and his relatives barely dodged a head-on smashup with an automobile running from law enforcement during a fast-paced pursuit. The pursuit began in Marshalltown after a county deputy performed a traffic stop, continuing across multiple counties before ending in a crash southwest of Cedar Rapids along Highway 30.

While driving back to Nevada via Highway 30, Jack Spence and his relatives ran right into the pursuit. Spence noticed police officers deploying spike strips alongside the road before seeing a line of eastbound police cars.

Well, you guys, if we die, I love you.

That remark came from Jack’s grandmother, Beth Wagner, who was in the passenger seat as police vehicles headed eastbound.
