UWRF Men's Hockey Hosts Concordia College for Weekend Series

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls men’s hockey team returns to the ice at Hunt Arena this weekend, hosting Concordia College for a two-game non-conference series. The Falcons, currently holding a 2-0 record after a successful season-opening sweep, face a Concordia squad that has yet to play a game this season. Puck drop for both Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. in River Falls.

Building on a Strong Start

The Falcons enter the series with momentum following a pair of wins against St. Scholastica. The opening series saw the team outscore the Saints 10-5, highlighted by an overtime victory in the season opener followed by a decisive 5-1 win this past Tuesday. Offensive production has been distributed early on, with Keenan Ingram leading the team with three goals. Jonny Meiers and Garett Drotts have also contributed significantly, netting two goals each through the first two contests.

Defensive stability has been a key component of the early-season success. Freshman goaltender Chris Quizi has started both games, allowing only one goal while recording 34 saves. He currently maintains a .930 save percentage.

Falcons Hold Historical Edge over Concordia College

The matchup history favors the Falcons, who hold an 18-4-3 all-time record against Concordia College. UWRF is currently unbeaten in five consecutive matchups with three wins in a row. The most recent encounter took place on Nov. 15, 2025, at Hunt Arena, where the Falcons secured a 2-1 victory. In that contest, the team overcame a one-goal deficit with second-period scores from Ben Portner and Keenan Ingram.

The team returns more than 80% of its scoring production from the previous season. The squad is anchored by several All-WIAC First Team honorees, including Ingram, Gavin Middendorf, and Luke Margenau. Margenau, a sophomore, led all WIAC defensemen with 22 points—comprising four goals and 18 assists—while also ranking first nationally with 70 blocked shots.

The Stakes of the Non-Conference Schedule

Following a 14-12-1 record last season, which saw the Falcons reach the WIAC Tournament Championship for the second consecutive year, these non-conference games serve as a barometer for the team’s development.

For Concordia, the weekend represents a challenging test against a team already in mid-game form. The Falcons, meanwhile, are looking to maintain their disciplined defensive structure before the intensity of the conference schedule fully takes hold.
