Wichita Falls Area Food Bank gets truckload from LDS Church

The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank received a full truckload of food donations from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, just in time for the holiday season.

Holiday Relief Arrives in Wichita County

The shipment arrived, bringing tons of essential provisions to support local families. The donation includes flour, sugar, beans, assorted fruits and vegetables, and milk.

David O’Neil, CEO of the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, noted the critical timing of the delivery. The supplies help sustain over 43,000 food-insecure residents across a 12-county service area.

“We’re incredibly grateful this morning to be able to get a full truckload of food coming from the Church of Latter-day Saints. They do this across the country and were blessed to be able to get this truck in. Its such a meaningful time of the year during the holidays in order to feed and nourish over 43, 000 food insecure neighbors across 12 counties,” O’Neil stated.

Network of Farms and Surplus Distribution

Local representatives for the church explained the logistics behind large-scale donations of this nature. The organization operates its own dairies and farms to supply its members, channeling surplus yields into regional distribution networks.

Church members also coordinate international shipments focused primarily on disaster relief. Supplies are dispatched to regions impacted by hurricanes and earthquakes to aid in community recovery.

Food bank organizers report that one in five local residents currently experiences food insecurity.

Residents seeking to support the food bank through volunteer work or direct contributions can find more information at wfafb.org.
