The latest aerial interception brings a flurry of defensive actions across Saudi airspace as military forces grapple with near-daily projectile fire. Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki announced via social media that defensive systems intercepted and destroyed four drones during a sustained window of heightened threat over the capital, the Eastern Province, and the southern districts. The defensive push follows an earlier Friday operation that neutralized a ballistic missile fired toward the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, alongside two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and three separate drones targeting Riyadh and the south.
Airports and Civilian Infrastructure Under Sustained Fire
The weekend drone interceptions unfold against a backdrop of severe civilian and infrastructure casualties sustained earlier in the month. During a press briefing, the coalition revealed that persistent attacks have taken a heavy toll on transport hubs and civilian areas, leaving 19 people dead and 364 others wounded in assaults attributed to the Houthi movement.
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh absorbed the brunt of the campaign, enduring 20 separate attacks since the beginning of October. Strikes between October 7 and October 11 alone resulted in 17 deaths and 333 injuries at the capital’s main aviation hub. Additional strikes hit Abha International Airport, causing two deaths and 28 injuries, while King Abdullah International Airport in Jazan sustained three injuries, according to coalition data.
Major General Turki Al-Maliki stated that what the Houthi militia is doing is a blatant violation of international norms.
Al-Maliki condemned the assaults as a blatant violation of international norms
while emphasizing that targeting airports threatens civil aviation and the safety of the kingdom. He also characterized attempts to strike the Two Holy Mosques as a systematic hostile act
endangering pilgrims and visitors.

Yemeni Armed Forces Launch Thousands of Strikes
While air defense batteries engage incoming threats across Saudi skies, ground and air operations inside Yemen have accelerated under the banner of the Yemen Dawn military operation. Yemeni armed forces reported conducting 1,417 precise targeting operations within a 24-hour window using warplanes, drones, field artillery, and multiple rocket launchers against insurgent concentrations and fortified positions.
