Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring during an 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on October 18, 2026, and is expected to miss six to 10 weeks. Head coach Sean McVay announced the timeline on October 19, alongside a wave of severe injuries hitting the struggling 2-4 team.

The Los Angeles Rams entered the 2026 season with Super Bowl expectations, anchored by a roster featuring Matthew Stafford coming off an MVP campaign, the return of Aaron Donald from retirement, and major offseason acquisitions including Myles Garrett. Six weeks into the fall, those championship expectations have collided with a severe physical toll.

Following a narrow 18-16 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, head coach Sean McVay delivered a grim injury report on Monday afternoon. Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring during the game.

Adams Faces Months on Sidelines

Adams pulled up during a route near the goal line in the closing moments against Arizona, hopping out the back of the end zone before limping to the sideline. Subsequent medical testing revealed a ruptured semitendinosus tendon in his hamstring. McVay confirmed the veteran pass catcher faces a six- to 10-week recovery period and will be placed on injured reserve.

Through six games, Adams led the team in receiving yards with 480 and had secured four touchdowns, averaging 14.8 air yards per target. He also stands as one of the team captains.

It’s significant when you don’t have a player like Davante, but we have to be able to adjust. His contributions can’t be measured. You don’t replace somebody like him.

A recovery window of 10 weeks pushes Adams’s earliest realistic return into December, meaning he would be available for only the final two regular-season games.

Ford and Grupe Suffer Season Ending Injuries

Defensive tackle Poona Ford ruptured his triceps muscle during the Arizona game, ending his season immediately. Special teams also suffered a major loss when kicker Blake Grupe tore his ACL, likewise requiring placement on season-ending injured reserve.

General manager Les Snead, assistant general manager John McKay, and special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone immediately began evaluating options to secure a replacement kicker. Interior starter Kobie Turner is headed to injured reserve with a groin strain expected to sideline him for four to six weeks.

Myles Garrett has remained on injured reserve since undergoing knee surgery following the team’s Week 1 loss in Australia. McVay confirmed that Garrett will not return to practice this week, ruling him out for the upcoming matchup against the Raiders. Cornerback Trent McDuffie, who missed one game with a groin injury, is slated to ramp up practice with the hope of returning.

Rams Rebuild Offense Without Star

Puka Nacua, who missed time earlier in the year due to his own injury, commands the receiving corps as the team leader with 37 receptions for 417 yards.

Konata Mumpfield recorded a 93-yard, one-touchdown game earlier this season. Jordan Whittington, Tutu Atwell, CJ Daniels, and Alex Bachman round out the group. Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson are also expected to see expanded duties in an offense that frequently deploys multiple tight-end formations.

Those guys are key contributors for us, so there’s a lot of emotions. But the first thing is support these guys, be there for them, and then the next thing is make sure that we figure out what’s the best way for our team to be able to move forward in the absence of some critical factors for us.

Markets React to Mounting Injuries

On prediction markets like Kalshi, the Rams’ Super Bowl probability fell from 10.5% before the Week 6 loss to 7.5% afterward, while DraftKings moved their championship price to +1,000.

Davante Adams out 6-10 weeks with ruptured hamstring 🚨 | Should the Rams SELL at the trade deadline?

Under McVay, the franchise overcame slow starts in previous seasons, clawing back from a 3-6 record through nine weeks in 2023 and a 1-4 start in 2024 to finish 10-7 on both occasions.

The immediate challenge begins with a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
