The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) released the results for the September 2026 CA Foundation examination, providing a definitive outcome for over 100,000 aspirants. The scorecard is now live on the official ICAI result portal, marking a critical milestone for students looking to enter the Chartered Accountancy program. The institute officially declared the results on November 6, following a notification that had confirmed the date for the assessment.
Kansika and Mahek Gupta Secure Top Rank
Two candidates, Kansika from Hisar and Mahek Gupta from Hyderabad, shared the top honor, both securing All India Rank 1 with a score of 361 out of 400. These top scorers achieved a percentage of 90.25%, setting a high benchmark for the thousands who sat for the test across 580 centers.
The merit list reflects a high level of competition. Sparsh Khandelwal from Ajmer and J Jayanth from Chennai tied for the second rank with 359 marks, achieving a percentage of 89.75%. Vaibhavi Singhal from Gwalior secured the third spot with 358 marks and an overall score of 89.50%. These rankings come from a field of 104,240 total candidates who appeared for the September session.
Nineteen Thousand Students Clear the Exam
The statistical reality of the CA Foundation exam remains challenging. Of the 104,240 students who took the exams on September 2, 5, 7, and 9, 19,736 successfully cleared the hurdle. This translates to an overall pass percentage of 18.93%. The breakdown of these results highlights a disparity in performance, with male candidates recording a pass rate of 20.47% compared to 17.32% for female candidates. Specifically, 10,931 of the 53,398 male candidates passed, while 8,805 of the 50,842 female candidates were successful.
For those who did not meet the passing criteria—which mandates at least 40% in each individual paper and a 50% aggregate overall—the next opportunity is already on the horizon. The ICAI has confirmed that the next examination cycle is scheduled for January 3, 5, 7, and 9, 2027.
Candidates who successfully cleared the foundation level are now eligible to register for the CA Intermediate course. This transition represents the second level of the Chartered Accountancy programme.

Accessing Official Results
The ICAI has streamlined the retrieval process to ensure students can obtain their scorecards without unnecessary friction. By visiting caresults.icai.org, students can access their performance records. The process requires the candidate’s registration number and roll number. The institute has emphasized that students should rely exclusively on official portals for their results and future updates regarding the registration process for the Intermediate level.
With fewer than 1 in 5 candidates clearing this specific session, the designation of Chartered Accountant continues to maintain its reputation for intense academic and professional rigor. For the candidates who did not pass this time, the focus now turns to the January 2027 cycle, where the cycle of preparation and evaluation begins anew.
