TellingPointy — News That Matters, Explained Clearly

In three coastal communities of Laoang, Northern Samar, where darkness limits nighttime movement and limited office equipment slows down public service, government-funded projects are beginning to address everyday challenges through solar streetlights and new digital office tools.

Renewable Energy and Nighttime Safety in Aroganga

The improvements are taking shape in Barangays Aroganga, Mualbual, and Sto. Funding comes from the Office of the President’s Socio-Civic Projects Fund, implemented under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang program.

In Barangay Aroganga, the intervention centers on visibility and security along community roads. The barangay received solar-powered streetlights to illuminate pathways for residents who need to move around early in the morning or after sunset. The setup provides an alternative power source that harnesses renewable energy for public spaces.

Community Gratitude for Presidential Support

Residents and the barangay council expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the assistance, describing the project as a step toward a progressive community.

Digital Upgrades for Mualbual and Sto. Niño

Meanwhile, Barangays Mualbual and Sto. Niño are focusing on administrative capacity and public service delivery. Barangay Mualbual acquired a 3-in-1 printer, a projector, and a desktop computer to support routine office operations, community programs, and information dissemination. Barangay Sto. Niño, also known as Barangay Calintaan Poblacion, procured a similar package consisting of a computer set, a 3-in-1 printer, and a projector.

Streamlining Local Government Operations

For small local government units in the predominantly coastal and island municipality of Laoang, functional office equipment reduces delays in processing documents, improves record management, and makes public information more accessible. While priority projects differ across the three barangays—ranging from solar street lighting to information technology access—the objective remains the improvement of resources supporting everyday community life.
