Clarksburg Seeks Construction Bids for New 4,500-Square-Foot Splash Pad at City Park in Nutter Fort
Families visiting Clarksburg City Park in Nutter Fort will soon have a brand-new way to cool off during the hot summer months. As WDTV reported, city officials are actively seeking contractors to take on the construction of a roughly 4,500-square-foot splash pad, with a strict project deadline approaching on December 1.
The proposed water feature will find its home near the park’s existing basketball courts, walking trail, and Maple Shelter. According to details shared by Connect-Bridgeport, the attraction is designed to complement rather than replace current municipal facilities, leaving the existing setup at Veterans Administration Park fully operational for local residents.
Project Funding and Financial Breakdown
The capital-intensive project carries an estimated price tag exceeding $500,000. The Land and Water Conservation Fund is contributing $275,000, which is matched by up to $275,000 in local funding drawn from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Beyond the primary water features, the contracted work encompasses essential infrastructure improvements. Site preparation, utility connections, a dedicated mechanical enclosure, and concrete paving will all be used to connect the new splash pad directly to the park's existing network of walking pathways.
Operations, Safety, and Community Impact
Clarksburg Superintendent of Parks Doug Comer emphasized that the new amenity will serve a dual purpose for the community. In addition to offering local families another recreational option, the splash pad is intended to accommodate visitors who travel to the area for youth sports leagues and baseball games.

This will add another asset to an already great park, Comer told Connect-Bridgeport.
From an operational standpoint, the facility is designed for minimal overhead. Comer noted that the splash pad will feature zero standing water depth, meaning municipal regulations will not require a dedicated lifeguard on duty. Instead, regular park maintenance staff will handle routine upkeep and conduct safety checks on the water quality once the site officially opens to the public.
Contractors Submit Construction Bids to City Hall
Contractors interested in securing the project must act quickly. Official construction bids are due by 2 p.m. on Dec. 1. Submissions must be delivered directly to Clarksburg City Hall, located at 222 West Main Street, as outlined by local reporting.
