Five Casings on the Asphalt
Five spent 9mm shell casings left on a public roadway marked the end of a chaotic Halloween night in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Local police arrested 26-year-old Latrell Grayson following an incident at the Peppermill Bar parking lot that began with a vehicle collision and escalated into gunfire.
A Collision in the Parking Lot
Officers responded to the scene at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports that a person had been struck by a vehicle and that shots had been fired. Witness-provided cell phone video captured the initial moments of the confrontation, showing a vehicle accelerating out of the parking lot and hitting a man. Remarkably, the victim was not injured and declined medical assistance when officers arrived.
From Pursuit to Gunfire
The situation intensified as the vehicle moved away from the initial impact. Video footage reviewed by the Cheyenne Police Department shows a group of bystanders chasing the car. Before fleeing the scene, the driver stopped, stepped out of the vehicle, and fired several rounds from a handgun. Responding officers subsequently located five 9mm shell casings on the pavement.
Officers Arrest Driver After Recovering Firearm and Vodka Bottle
As additional patrol units arrived in the area, they identified the suspect vehicle. During the ensuing attempt to conduct a traffic stop, the driver discarded a bottle of vodka from the window. Upon successfully stopping the vehicle, officers discovered a 9mm handgun inside. Latrell Grayson was taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangering, and open container.
Processing the Evidence
The incident remains a focal point for local law enforcement as they process the evidence collected from the scene.
