Milwaukee Public Schools Closes Friday for Brewers Championship Parade

Milwaukee Public Schools will close all schools and district offices on Friday as the city prepares to host its first World Series championship parade, mlb.com reported. The district cited expected operational and safety impacts from the massive celebration, joining a wave of local shutdowns for the historic civic event.

The Milwaukee Brewers secured the title after a postseason run that saw fans pack Tropicana Field on the road and fill American Family Field for home watch parties. To accommodate the ensuing festivities, city officials and school administrators adjusted schedules across the district.

Parade Schedule and District Adjustments

According to mlb.com, the Parade of Champions is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT at N. 4th Street and W. Wisconsin Avenue. Following the parade route, a rally and fan festival will take place at Henry Maier Festival Park. Both events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

tmj4.com reported that the district announcement, released on Thursday, includes the cancellation of all Milwaukee Recreation activities and programs, with the sole exception of high school postseason events. Essential facilities staff must still report for duty as outlined in standard inclement weather procedures.

“We join our entire community in celebrating this historic moment for the World Champion Milwaukee Brewers and the City of Milwaukee,” the district stated, as reported by tmj4.com.

For residents and students unable to attend the downtown gathering in person, mlb.com noted that coverage will air live on MLB Network, MLB+, MLB.TV, and Brewers.TV, alongside free live streaming on Brewers.com.
