Born in New York on February 20, 1927, Miriam’s life spanned nearly a century of significant cultural and local change. She became a familiar face in the Bridgeport community following her graduation from Bassick High School in 1945—the year the Second World War ended and Connecticut’s industrial cities began a major period of change. She spent 49 years married to her husband, Edward Irwin Green, who predeceased her.
A Legacy of Art and Community Engagement
Beyond her contributions to the local social fabric, Miriam was an accomplished oil painter. Her work garnered recognition in various art shows, serving as a creative cornerstone of her life. Friends and family also remember her for her dedication to the game of mahjong, an interest that provided both intellectual engagement and enduring social connections.
