Travis Konecny returned to the Philadelphia lineup on Sunday after missing more than three weeks with an injury, scoring a goal and adding an assist as the Flyers defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-3. The victory snapped a three-game winless skid for Philadelphia at 0-2-1, bringing an immediate offensive spark to a team that had been missing two of its regular contributors.

Konecny and Tippett Return as Philadelphia Offense Breaks Out

The Flyers wasted little time integrating returning personnel into the top lines. Konecny, who missed 10 games, notched his first goal of the season at 1:06 of the second period by banking a shot off Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka to break a 1-1 tie and put Philadelphia ahead for good. Later in the contest, Konecny set up Christian Dvorak for a one-timer from the high slot, extending the advantage to 4-1. Beyond the scoresheet, Konecny set a physical tone with four hits.

Owen Tippett also rejoined the Flyers after sitting out the last six games with an upper-body injury. Meanwhile, Matvei Michkov opened the scoring for Philadelphia in the first period, snapping a shot past Vejmelka for his 10th goal of the season. With that milestone, Michkov became the first Flyer to score 10 goals in his first 17 games of a season since Konecny accomplished the feat in 2023.

Utah’s Late Push Falls Short as Vladar Holds Firm

Utah managed to pressure the hosts in the later frames, but early defensive lapses proved costly. Dmitri Simashev put Utah on the board first, while Mikhail Sergachev added a power-play goal in the third period. Logan Cooley cut the deficit further with his eighth goal of the season while Utah played with an extra attacker on the ice. However, Dan Vladar turned aside 19 shots to preserve the lead, and Cole Knuble iced the contest with an empty-net goal in the dying minutes.

Vejmelka finished with 15 saves for the Mammoth, who have now alternated wins and losses over their past eight games.

Road Ahead for Both Clubs

The schedule offers no rest for either team as the early-November slate continues. Utah will press on with its six-circus road trip, traveling to face Toronto on Tuesday night. The Flyers return to home ice to host Minnesota on Tuesday night, looking to build momentum off the offensive outburst that finally broke their recent skid.
