Greater Cairo expects a daytime high of 27°C and an overnight low of 17°C as Egypt’s Meteorological Authority forecasts autumn weather bringing morning water mist on major transport routes and light to moderate coastal rainfall.

Autumn weather conditions settle across most of Egypt bringing comfortable daytime temperatures alongside cooler nights and early morning mist. The General Authority of Meteorology reports that moderate autumn conditions will persist through October 22, 2026, creating distinct temperature divides between northern governorates and southern Upper Egypt. According to the General Authority of Meteorology forecast spanning Monday, October 19, 2026, through Friday, October 23, 2026, the coming days feature autumn conditions that alternate between daytime moderation and nighttime chill.

Temperatures Split Northern Cities From Southern Heat

Luxor and Aswan register daytime highs ranging between 33°C and 34°C, contrasting with Greater Cairo’s expected high of 27°C and overnight low of 18°C. Daytime conditions remain warm across Greater Cairo, northern regions, and northern Upper Egypt, while southern Upper Egypt experiences hotter weather during the afternoon hours. Coastal areas such as Alexandria record daytime highs of 26°C and lows of 18°C, while Matrouh sees temperatures peak at 25°C before falling to 17°C.

Southern destinations maintain significantly warmer readings. Overnight minimums settle near 19°C to 21°C in Luxor and Aswan.

Meteorological officials note that the substantial drop in temperature after sunset brings a noticeable chill to open areas and newly developed urban zones during the late night and early morning hours.

Mist and Rain Reduce Visibility Across Egypt

Water mist forms between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM across agricultural and highway routes near water bodies, affecting northern territories, Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. The reduced horizontal visibility requires cautious driving and adherence to speed limits.

Coastal areas face ongoing precipitation following heavy downpours in Alexandria and Matrouh, as an upper-level atmospheric depression positioned over the Mediterranean Sea continues to drive weather patterns in the region. Its impact on Egypt stays milder than the severe weather experienced in Libya and parts of Turkey.

Manar Ghanem of the Meteorological Authority stated that the expected maximum temperature in Greater Cairo tomorrow will reach 27°C, while maximum temperatures in the Luxor and Aswan governorates will range between 33°C and 34°C, creating warm weather during the day in the north of the country, Greater Cairo, and northern Upper Egypt, while remaining hot in southern Upper Egypt.

Precipitation chances reach roughly 30% along Mediterranean coastal areas, northern the Delta, and parts of the Suez Gulf. Lower chances extending down to about 10% apply to isolated areas of southern the Delta and the Canal cities, with a slight possibility of reaching Greater Cairo. Meteorological forecasts indicate that the weather system brings low and medium clouds that partially block sunshine and contribute to the crisp autumn feel.

Manar Ghanem noted that there are very weak chances of light rain in some areas of the southern Nile Delta and the Canal cities, and these chances may extend to areas of Greater Cairo but with occurrence probabilities not exceeding 10%.

Moderate Winds Lower Temperatures as Autumn Attire Advised

Wind speeds ranging between 30 and 35 kilometers per hour occur intermittently across most regions, helping to moderate temperatures in shaded areas and during the evening. Forecasters advise citizens to select appropriate autumn attire, avoiding overly heavy winter garments while preparing for the notable nighttime cool.

Meteorologists also note that higher elevations in Saint Catherine and mountainous regions of Sinai could experience potential snow accumulation during the autumn and winter seasons.
