Giza officials are transforming a former dumping site into the new 6-kilometer Ekhlas Axis, a major transit artery connecting the Marioutiya area to the Kafr Taha and Kamal Amer axes.
Dual-Carriageway Route Connects Key Districts
The Ekhlas Axis is designed as a dual-carriageway road, with each direction featuring three traffic lanes. Stretching 6 kilometers, the route begins at the Marioutiya district, intersects with the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis, and passes through Othman Mahram Street. According to reporting by Youm7, the path continues through the Omraneya district, connecting to the Kamal Amer Axis via Mecca, Doctor, and Adawi Selim streets.
This configuration creates a parallel corridor to existing high-traffic routes like Faysal, Haram, and Terasa. Officials anticipate that the new axis will serve as a vital alternative for commuters traveling from the southern districts of Abu Nomros and Badrashin, offering a more direct route to the Kamal Amer Axis.
Authorities Clear Illegal Waste-Sorting Sites
As part of the site’s comprehensive infrastructure overhaul, water and sewage lines have been replaced with modern, legal networks. Additionally, gas, electricity, and telecommunication lines were relocated beneath interlocking pavement sections rather than the asphalt to simplify future maintenance.

To address the accumulation of waste, local authorities coordinated with the Giza Security Directorate to clear 25 illegal waste-sorting sites along the road. Plans are currently underway to convert these reclaimed spaces into public parking lots. Regarding the construction process, Hamed Salama, head of the Talbiya district, clarified that the project required no displacement of residents, as all work remained within the established 30-meter road boundary.
District-Wide Development Plans
Beyond the primary axis, local government initiatives are focused on broader urban improvements.
Development Includes Feeder Road Upgrades
The development also includes the integration of Ahmed Daifallah Street, which is being upgraded to serve as a feeder road to the main axis. Following the completion of the structural work, authorities intend to implement a landscaping and tree-planting initiative to maintain the area’s aesthetic standards, alongside a new waste management system to prevent the return of informal dumping.
