Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite Manga Adaptation Moves Forward With Television Anime
Julietta Suzuki’s manga Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, also known by its Japanese title Oshi ni Amagami, is officially receiving a television anime adaptation. ShoPro Entertainment announced the project alongside a teaser promotional video and a teaser visual.
The announcement arrived on November 4, timed deliberately because the date 11/04 can be read in Japanese wordplay as “ii oshi,” translating to “good favorite.” Viz Media publishes the series in English. The story follows Hina, a vampire who spends 30 years as a shut-in before moving to Japan to pursue otaku activities. In her new home, she meets Kyuta Amanatsu, a neighbor who resembles her favorite character and possesses blood that proves irresistible to vampires.

From Print Serialization to Screen Adaptation
Suzuki launched the manga in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine in November 2022, following a one-shot published in the same magazine in April 2022. Hakusensha handles print publication in Japan, having shipped the 10th compiled book volume on July 17. The publisher schedules the 11th volume for release on November 20.
In North America, Viz Media shipped the eighth volume on July 7 and has slated the ninth volume for release on December 1. A new key visual and a trailer accompanied the adaptation announcement, and the promotional video debuted on the ShoPro anime channel on YouTube. The teaser visual displays the vampire protagonist, Hina, smiling inside a coffin filled with merchandise dedicated to her favorite character.

Suzuki Ties Creative Lineage to Kamisama Kiss as Production Begins
The creative lineage of the project connects back to Suzuki’s previous serialization, Kamisama Kiss, which also ran in Hana to Yume starting in 2008 and concluded in May 2016 across 25 volumes. That series inspired two anime seasons streamed by Funimation as they aired in Japan, alongside a series of four original anime DVDs and an official fan book bundled with an original anime episode and an epilogue manga.
As production on the new adaptation begins, specific details regarding the studio, staff, cast, and broadcast timing remain unannounced.
