Unpublished gameplay footage of an unannounced Persona 1 remake surfaced online on October 31, 2026, setting off fan speculation across Reddit and gaming platforms. While neither Atlus nor Sega has confirmed the project, the leaked footage features Unreal Engine debug text and animations similar to upcoming franchise entries.

Footage Surfaces on October 31

A video measuring nearly two minutes in length and running at a low 360p resolution surfaced online on October 31, 2026.

The clip was initially uploaded to YouTube by a channel named P1REMAKE—an account created in March 2010.

It spread rapidly to file-sharing websites like Gofile and Catbox, as well as Reddit’s GamingLeaksAndRumours community.

The footage depicts what appears to be a modern visual overhaul of the original 1996 PlayStation role-playing game.

Players can spot exploration scenes set in the familiar hallways of St. Hermelin High School.

The video is split into ‘Field’ and ‘Battle’ sections like a game systems showcase, featuring a graphic-novel social link scene built around 2D illustrations. The protagonist in the footage wears an earring and a school uniform similar to past depictions of the lead character.

Fans Spot Clues Inside the Leaked Video

The video has divided the gaming community between those convinced of its authenticity and skeptics pointing to anomalous assets.

Supporters highlight Unreal Engine debug text visible in the upper-left corner of the screen, a developer tool used to monitor active engine performance during internal builds. Keen-eyed observers also noted that character summon animations appear to borrow directly from Persona 4 Revival, an upcoming Atlus title scheduled for release in February 2027.

Specifically, Eriko Kirishima appears to use the same summon animation as Yukiko Amagi from Persona 4 Revival.

However, the presence of Tatsuya Suou standing in during battle scenes raised questions.

Analysts suggest this indicates that remakes for both Persona 1 and Persona 2 are being developed simultaneously.

Others suggest developers simply used Tatsuya as a temporary placeholder model before finishing the proper Persona 1 assets.

Kazuhisa Wada Addresses Remake Plans

The leak arrives alongside anticipation for older franchise entries following the massive success of Persona 3 Reload in 2024.

During a special livestream on September 20, 2026, Kazuhisa Wada addressed fan desires for early series remakes directly.

At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.

Merchandise Launch Matches the Leak

The timing of the video leak coincided directly with merchandise manufacturer Algernon Product launching a promotional “???” collaboration teaser on X on October 31.

The campaign featured an illustration by Kei Mochizuki depicting a high-collared character wearing an earring—a visual closely tied to the original Persona protagonist—leading some fans to connect the marketing schedule to the leaked video.

The collaboration announcement stated that the protagonist of the first Persona game would be revealed on November 2 at 5:00 PM.

Neither Sega nor Atlus has issued an official statement regarding the footage. Previous major franchise entries, including Persona 3 Reload, suffered similar early leaks before their respective announcements, leaving fans waiting for official confirmation from the publisher.
