IDB and ElTarek Launch Co-Branded Mastercard Credit Cards in Egypt

The Industrial Development Bank has signed a formal cooperation protocol with ElTarek for Automotive Trading, Importing and Distribution to issue co-branded Mastercard credit cards. The rollout represents the first partnership of its kind between the two entities, directly targeting automotive consumers across Egypt’s retail market.

The Bottom Line:

  • The co-branded credit cards launch across three specific tiers: Titanium, Platinum, and World Elite.
  • Applications are open to new car buyers and service centre customers at IDB branches and ElTarek showrooms.
  • World Elite cardholders gain access to The Mastercard Collection for curated global dining, travel, and airport benefits.

Embedding Credit Card Issuance into Car Sales

The collaboration ties retail banking directly to large automotive purchases and ongoing vehicle maintenance. By embedding credit card issuance into car sales and after-sales service visits, the partnership targets customers at the exact moment of major financial commitments. Tying card acquisition to a vehicle purchase allows the bank to secure retail clients without building out standalone distribution channels.

For ElTarek, the financial product extends customer relationships beyond standard vehicle delivery and maintenance. “Our partnership with ElTarek, a leading company in the automotive market, reflects our commitment to reaching new customer segments through innovative solutions,” said Hussein Refaie, CEO and Managing Director of IDB, emphasizing the bank’s strategy to strengthen its retail footprint.

Unlocking Access to Priority Dining and Airport Services

Cardholders across all three tiersโ€”Titanium, Platinum, and World Eliteโ€”receive integrated benefits from IDB, ElTarek, and Mastercard designed to streamline everyday payment experiences. Premium cardholders holding the World Elite tier unlock access to The Mastercard Collection. This network includes priority dining reservations, exclusive entertainment packages, and enhanced airport services for domestic and international travel.

Tarek Hayman, Head of Business Development at ElTarek for Automotive, noted that the company’s relationship with clients extends well beyond the initial vehicle handover. The new banking product adds tangible value to ongoing after-sales services, with both companies exploring further opportunities for future cooperation.

Submitting Applications Across Physical Branches and Dealership Showrooms

The strategic move aligns with broader efforts to accelerate the adoption of digital payments within Egypt’s evolving economy. Mohamed Assem highlighted that Mastercard’s technology combines tailored perks with secure payment infrastructure to support car owners from initial acquisition through daily transactions.

Applications for the new cards are currently live across IDB physical branches and ElTarek dealership showrooms.
