Dungannon Court Appearance Follows Recovery of Evidence in Mullane Probe
A 35-year-old is scheduled to appear in court in Dungannon to face charges of murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body. The legal development marks a critical shift in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance and suspected murder of 39-year-old Carrie Mullane, from Limerick.
Authorities have been searching for Ms. Mullane since October 29, when officers were first notified of her disappearance. While the investigation has spanned several weeks, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) maintains that the victim likely came to harm shortly after arriving in Enniskillen from County Limerick on October 10.
Recovery of Key Evidence from River Erne
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms. Mullane’s disappearance intensified this week following the recovery of specific items. Police have recovered both a campervan and a boat that they believe are linked to the case.
The boat was pulled from the River Erne on Friday, specifically at the Tullyinishmore Jetty located between Enniskillen and Carrybridge. Investigators are also seeking information regarding a blue and white campervan that has no wheels. These physical assets form the core of the current inquiry, as detectives work to reconstruct the timeline of events following Ms. Mullane’s arrival in Northern Ireland.
The Final Confirmed Sighting in Enniskillen
Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton of the PSNI Serious Crime Branch provided a detailed account of the victim’s last known movements. The last confirmed sighting of Ms. Mullane occurred on Saturday, October 10, when she traveled by taxi from the Enniskillen bus station on Wellington Road to Trasna Park at approximately 9 p.m.
The PSNI has confirmed that the individual currently in custody is a man known to the victim. During a press conference held on Friday, Detective Superintendent Thornton noted that the investigation remains open regarding the precise circumstances of the incident.

Detective Superintendent Thornton said that Carrie is a much loved mother, sister and friend and is greatly missed by everyone who knows and loves her, and added that any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it to be, could prove key in bringing Carrie home and providing answers for her loved ones.
Public Appeal for Footage and Sightings
The PSNI has issued a public appeal for assistance, specifically requesting dashcam, doorbell, or other video footage that might have captured the movements of the identified campervan or boat between October 10 and November 1. Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from boat owners on Upper Lough Erne who may have observed the vessel during that period.
The 35-year-old has been held in custody, with police previously granted an additional 24 hours to conduct questioning. As the court proceedings begin in Dungannon, the focus of the PSNI remains on establishing a clear picture of the events that transpired after the taxi journey to Trasna Park.
For the family of Ms. Mullane, the wait for definitive answers continues to be a profound ordeal. Her sister, Sandra Noonan, recently expressed the family’s determination to locate her sister, stating on social media her commitment to bringing her home. As the investigation progresses, the recovery of the boat and campervan advances the police effort to piece together the final hours of a missing woman.
