TellingPointy — News That Matters, Explained Clearly

The offseason brings a different kind of milestone for one of the newest arms in the Atlanta bullpen. Víctor Mederos, who quietly carved out a role during a 94-win campaign for the Atlanta Braves, shared a major personal update away from the diamond.

Mederos and his partner, Elianam Burgos, announced their engagement on Instagram. Burgos shared the news with her followers, writing, Thank you Jesus 🤍 I always knew it was you! Well wishes quickly flooded the comments from friends, including @andreia.albies, @1prgrl, @sarafskinner, @rolonm, and @annamoriley. Los Amo un mundo!! 🤍🤍🤍💍🤍🤍-Tita

From Minor League Depth to a 3.41 ERA in Atlanta

The engagement caps off a whirlwind year of professional transition and success for the right-handed pitcher. Back on April 3, 2026, MLB.com noted that the Los Angeles Angels traded Mederos to the Braves in exchange for future considerations and international bonus pool money. It was a transaction involving Atlanta manager Walt Weiss.

Atlanta Braves Pitcher Víctor Mederos Announces Engagement

Mederos spent the first three seasons of his Major League Baseball career with the Los Angeles Angels after being selected in the 6th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. Once he arrived in the National League East, however, his numbers stabilized. Over 30 appearances, Mederos posted a 6-1 record alongside a 3.41 ERA. During the season, he was captured on camera hugging teammate Drake Baldwin after securing an 8-3 victory against the Washington Nationals on August 1, 2026, at Truist Park.

The Road Ahead After a Bitter NLDS Exit

Despite the abrupt postseason end, the organization’s pitching depth remains one of its strengths as front-office executives look toward roster construction for next spring.

For Mederos, the transition to the team proved to be one of the surprises of the 2026 campaign. Now, the right-hander enters the winter months with momentum on both the personal and professional fronts.

Franchise Context

The Braves’ current home, Truist Park, opened in 2017, following the team’s tenures at Turner Field and Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. The franchise, which traces its roots to the 1871 Boston Red Stockings, moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta in 1966. The organization’s history of pitching excellence is often linked to the 1990s staff of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz.
