Anaheim Husband Arrested After Fatal Stabbing in Bedroom With Children Present

Domestic violence and suspected infidelity turned deadly in Anaheim on October 24, when a local father came home early from work and allegedly discovered his wife’s lover in bed with her, nypost.com reported. Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, is accused of fatally stabbing 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia multiple times with a pocketknife in the bedroom of his home. As reported by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the couple’s 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter were present in the bed during the assault.

Garcia died at the scene from his wounds. Pinedalopez’s wife and children were not harmed during the incident. Law enforcement arrested Pinedalopez at the scene, where prosecutors charged him with one felony count of murder and a felony enhancement for personal use of a weapon. He was arraigned on Tuesday and faces up to 26 years to life in prison if convicted on all charges.

“Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.

Prior California Cases Highlight Deadly Escalations

This incident follows other cases of suspected infidelity turning lethal across California this year. In January, former Glendale firefighter Andrew Jimenez allegedly killed his wife, Mayra Lopez Jimenez, with an ax at their North Hollywood home after suspecting infidelity, according to nypost.com. Jimenez’s defense attorney previously told the press that investigators discovered a diary detailing unfaithfulness. Jimenez was later hit with a murder count including an enhancement for employing an ax as a deadly weapon, and he faces a sentence of 26 years to life behind bars should he be found guilty.
