University Field Finale Brings Conference Loss

Thursday’s matchup in Carrollton, Georgia, saw both defenses hold firm through a scoreless first half. The Wolves managed four shots in the opening forty-five minutes, highlighted by an early opportunity from Noemi Casique in the 26th minute. Casique put a shot on target, which was turned away by Eastern Kentucky goalkeeper Jordan LeVasseur.

At the other end, Emily Sanabria anchored the West Georgia defense by recording three saves as the Colonels registered nine shots before the break. That defensive stalemate dissolved in the second half as Eastern Kentucky found its offensive rhythm.

The Colonels broke the scoreless tie in the 67th minute when Ronnie Ariel found the back of the net. Just five minutes later, Regan Reilly doubled the advantage to 2-0, aided by an assist from Robin Reilly. Eastern Kentucky added a third goal in the 79th minute as Avery May converted an assist from Chiara Premoli.

West Georgia answered in the 84th minute to trim the deficit. Casique netted her first goal of the afternoon following a precise assist from Katherine Hagans, who executed a nutmeg against an EKU defender.

Sanabria finished the evening with six saves, pushing her season total to the 100-save milestone. This marks the second consecutive season the goalkeeper has reached at least 100 stops. Siani Jones also saw action in relief, contributing two saves.

For Eastern Kentucky, the victory lifts their record to 9-6-3 overall and 5-2-2 in UAC play. The Wolves now turn their focus to the final fixture of the 2026 schedule, traveling to face North Alabama on Sunday, November 1, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
