Earlier Baseline Figures From the First Half of the Year
To understand the current scale, look at how the numbers accumulated. Notices logged through June 22 covered 5,001 workers. Six additional filings processed through Aug. 6 added another 981 workers, bringing the baseline up to 5,982 before the late-summer uptick.

Entries during that stretch included the TikTok USDS JV in Davidson County, which affected 250 workers ahead of an Oct. 5 Nashville office closure date. Carlex in Monroe County also accounted for 325 affected workers earlier in the tracking period. Adding the subsequent 673 workers from the seven newer notices brings the cumulative total to 6,655.
Tennessee pegged its statewide unemployment rate at 3.6% in May, holding flat for four consecutive months while employers added 5,700 nonfarm jobs between April and May.
