Auburn and Oklahoma State Set Up East Lake Cup Rematch After Record-Breaking Monday

No. 1 Auburn golf secured the top seed and a spot in the East Lake Cup championship match by defeating Arizona 4-1 on Tuesday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, 247Sports reported. The victory sets up a title showdown against No. 3 Oklahoma State, mirroring the semifinal matchup from the NCAA Championship.

The 12th annual tournament features the top four men’s and women’s teams from last year’s NCAA Championship, beginning with a single round of stroke play on Monday to determine the match-play bracket, according to Oklahoma State University Athletics. Auburn claimed the team stroke-play title with a 13-under 275, edging out Oklahoma State by two strokes as the Cowboys finished at 11-under 277, per the Auburn Tigers official athletics website.

Record-Setting Rounds Drive Opening Play

Sophomore Logan Reilly carded a 7-under 65 to lead the Tigers, capturing a share of the individual title alongside Oklahoma State senior Preston Stout. The pair broke the 10-year-old tournament scoring record previously set by Scottie Scheffler, who shot a 6-under 66 while playing for the University of Texas in 2016.

Reilly carded eight birdies and a single bogey on No. 15, steering through pine straw trouble on his final hole to preserve his historic round. Behind Reilly’s performance, Auburn counted 2-under 70s from Cayden Pope, Billy Davis, and Jake Albert to secure the team lead.

Match Play Semifinals Lead to Championship Clash

Earning the tournament’s top seed after stroke play, Auburn advanced to face fourth-seeded Arizona on Tuesday morning. The Tigers clinched the semifinal victory early when the first three players on the course secured three points, resulting in a final 4-1 margin once the remaining matches concluded.

Oklahoma State advanced to the finals by defeating UCLA 3-2 in their respective semifinal bracket. The Cowboys’ lineup features fifth-year senior John Wild, seniors Eric Lee, Gaven Lane, and Preston Stout, alongside junior Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson under head coach Alan Bratton.

Reilly Secures First Collegiate Victory with Personal-Low Round

Reilly, hailing from Lovettsville, Virginia, secured the first collegiate tournament victory of his career with his personal-low round. Logan played beautifully today, head coach Nick Clinard said.

Reflecting on his decision on the final hole, Reilly noted, I got over it and knew that was the play for sure, and I agreed with my coaches and took it on, after a poor drive landed him in the pine straw. Stout also described tracking his standing through Auburn’s Josiah Gilbert, who was playing in the same pairing and remarked, Oh Logan, made another birdie another birdie. Stout added, Great, I don’t really want to know but thanks for telling me, before noting, It was nice to feel some nerves. It’s always fun being under pressure. That’s why we practice. I love getting in those moments and having putts like that.

On the women’s side of the tournament, Arkansas senior María José Marín captured the individual title with a 5-under 67, finishing two strokes ahead of USC’s Jasmine Koo.
