Forest Green Following Peterborough’s Pursuit of Robbie Savage
National League side Forest Green Rovers have dealt with the departure of manager Robbie Savage. Savage exited his post in Gloucestershire on 2 October, leaving the club sitting 13th in the standings after 11 matches of the campaign.
The core dispute centers on the manner of Savage’s recruitment. Forest Green owner Dale Vince revealed that he initially rebuffed an approach from Peterborough for his manager, only for negotiations to accelerate after direct contact between the club and Savage occurred. Speaking to BBC Radio Gloucestershire, Vince stated that Peterborough approached them to request permission to speak to the manager, received a refusal, and proceeded regardless. So, that’s an illegal approach,
Vince remarked.

Vince further detailed the untenable position the managerial candidate faced during the talks. In the negotiations, Peterborough paid no respect to Robbie’s position,
Vince told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. He was stuck in the middle. He went there on the Monday, they offered him the job verbally and then they denied offering him the job. Then they said they were going to move on to their second choice, leaving him in a real pickle, and we had no choice but to say
look, just take him, that’s the best thing for him

Peterborough Chairman Defends Appointment Process
Peterborough chairman Darren MacAnthony strongly contested the allegations of wrongdoing. Responding to the claims on social media, MacAnthony maintained that the hiring procedure adhered strictly to regulations. I have been an owner for 20 years in the EFL and have respect for the process,
MacAnthony stated, adding that the appointment was 100% correct and proper, following all the rules

Since taking over at the Posh, Savage has posted a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses across all competitions. Forest Green has not confirmed whether they have officially contacted the Football Association regarding the matter, while Savage prepares for his first home league game in charge against Burton Albion following a 3-1 victory at Leicester City.
