Most Likely Power 4 College Football Coaching Jobs to Open in 2026

College Football Coaching Carousel Heats Up as Blue Bloods Eye Next Vacancy

That begs the question of which big boy job will be the next to open up this season, with three prominent Power 4 coaches carrying the potential to be handed their pink slips before the season ends.

Clemson and Dabo Swinney Face Tough Odds

Things are going pretty poorly for the Clemson Tigers, and have been for quite some time now. Their offense is absolutely putrid, and they are coming off a dismal performance against Virginia Tech, dropping them to 4-3 on the year.

There is still technically plenty of season left to right the ship. If the Tigers win out, there is an outside chance they sneak into the ACC Championship Game with just two conference losses. Now for the reality: even if they win out, they would still need losses from SMU and Wake Forest, whom they do not play, and another loss from Virginia Tech thanks to that aforementioned defeat to the Hokies.

Looking at the schedule, it might not be as easy as it looks.

With all that being said, head coach Dabo Swinney’s job is likely not in jeopardy outside of an epic collapse. Swinney has built up plenty of equity while coaching the Tigers, meaning coaches waiting for the Clemson job to open shouldn’t hold their breath.

Deion Sanders Under the Microscope in Boulder

For as bad as things are going in Clemson, they are magnitudes worse in Boulder. Colorado finished that season ranked in the top 25 thanks to a nine-win campaign and produced the school’s second Heisman winner in program history with Travis Hunter.

Dan Dakich called Deion Sanders’ Colorado program a Trojan Horse and a s— show, pointing out that the recruiting has been a disaster while the talent brought in fails to help in the win-loss column. Adding to the friction were reports of Sanders offering $50,000 to silence critics, which Sanders called a joke.

Lincoln Riley on a Warming Seat at USC

Another defeat could mean curtains for the Trojans’ CFP dreams and give the administration a reason to show Riley the door. The Buckeyes stand as a touchdown favorite.
