Property owners and residents in Concord will soon have a direct say in how the town distributes its tax burden for the upcoming fiscal year, as local officials prepare to weigh several critical tax policy decisions.
Select Board Schedules Public Hearing on Tax Levy Allocation
The Select Board is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday, November 16, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m. inside the Hearing Room at the Town House located at 22 Monument Square. The primary purpose of the session is to determine the exact allocation of the FY 2027 tax levy among the four classes of real property, alongside personal property.
During the hearing, the board will evaluate a series of specific tax policy mechanisms designed to adjust local financial impacts. These options include establishing a split tax rate, implementing an open space discount, adopting a residential exemption, and approving the small commercial exemption. Residents and business owners tracking these adjustments can review the preliminary Board of Assessors presentation directly on the town’s official website ahead of the meeting.

How to Participate in the Hearing
Community members who wish to weigh in on the proposed tax shifts have multiple ways to make their voices heard. Written comments can be submitted prior to the hearing by sending them directly to the Select Board. Alternatively, participants can attend the session in person or join the proceedings remotely via a Zoom meeting link using Meeting ID 870 9845 1325 and Passcode 130118, or by dialing in via telephone at 1-646-931-3860.
Sometime following the conclusion of the classification hearing, the Select Board will hold a formal vote to finalize these tax policies for FY 2027. Whether the board chooses to shift additional weight onto commercial properties or grant targeted relief to residential property owners remains to be determined by the final vote.
