Unique Jimenez thought she was having a normal night out with friends in downtown Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 3, until an encounter with a 25-year-old man ended in an assault that broke her jaw and left her facing a long recovery.
A Meeting in Downtown Omaha
Jimenez, 23, told KETV that she met Cedric Williams that evening. “I thought he was really nice. I thought he was a real gentleman,” she recalled. The two decided to continue the night at a friend’s house, but the situation shifted when Williams wanted to have sex. “I sobered to the point where I was like, ‘No,'” Jimenez said.
The Dispute Over a Smartphone
According to Jimenez, an argument followed after Williams allegedly began filming her on his phone. When she moved his device away and told him to stop recording, he got out of his car and attacked her.
Metal Plates Left in Fractured Jaw After Attack
The punch broke her jaw, forcing doctors to insert two metal plates into her face that will remain there permanently. She also sustained bruises and scratches, alongside severe emotional trauma.
“I don’t feel like myself. I don’t feel like Unique,” Jimenez said. “I still don’t feel like Unique. I wake up every morning, thinking what I could have changed, what I could’ve done better that night, but it wasn’t me.”
Suspect Faces Assault Charges After Hospital Visit
Jimenez sought hospital treatment hours after the attack and reported the incident to investigators. An arrest was made three weeks later, and court documents show Williams faces two assault charges. While the initial arrest brought relief, that feeling faded when Williams bonded out of jail.
GPS Monitoring Ahead of December Trial
“There’s no justice in him being out,” Jimenez said. “He’s still free. He just can’t be a couple miles away from me. That’s just it, he just can’t be close to me. He’s not locked up. That’s not justice.”
Williams is currently under GPS monitoring and is legally prohibited from contacting Jimenez. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
