Prescott Hull Delivers Double-Overtime Winner to Send UAH Into Historic Gulf South Conference Final
The University of Alabama in Huntsville women’s soccer team reached a milestone Friday night. Prescott Hull scored the golden goal at the 101:40 mark, lifting the Chargers to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Lee in the Gulf South Conference tournament semifinals.
Playing Friday night, Hull found the back of the net just 1:40 into the second overtime period to break a stubborn scoreless deadlock. That single strike punched UAH’s ticket to the GSC championship match for the first time in program history, bringing their season record to 9-7-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference play.
Defensive Grit Sets the Stage at John Hunt Park
While Hull provided the offensive heroics, the defensive unit anchored the victory. Goalkeeper CeCe Szopa turned in a stellar performance, recording six total saves to secure the shutout. Szopa kept the Chargers in the match early by stopping four shots in the first half alone.
Lee entered the matchup boasting a 12-2-3 record and an 8-1-2 mark in conference play, creating waves of pressure throughout regulation. Yet the UAH backline held firm, completely blanking their opponents through ninety minutes of regulation and surrendering just a single shot across both overtime periods. That defensive dominance allowed the Chargers to bide their time until Hull capitalized on the decisive opportunity.

There is little time for celebration in Huntsville. The semifinal win sets up an immediate turnaround for the Chargers, who return to the pitch at noon on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026. UAH will face the University of Montevallo at Loretta P. Spencer Field 2 at John Hunt Park, battling for the program’s first GSC tournament title.
